Technical consultation meeting on the future of Education for Sustainable Development

This technical consultation meeting aims at consulting with the UNESCO Member States and Associate Members on the future of ESD beyond the GAP.

The current phase of the Global Action Programme (GAP) on Education for Sustainable Development, the follow-up to the UN Decade on ESD, endorsed by 37th UNESCO General Conference and acknowledged by the UN General Assembly (Resolution A/RES/69/211) is due to end in 2019.

The meeting will discuss a draft UNESCO position paper on the future of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which, after integrating UNESCO Member States and Associate Members' comments, will be submitted to the UNESCO Governing Bodies in 2019 for their eventual decision on the future of ESD.
