During this joint UN side event to the COP23 conference on Climate change, speakers will present case studies that illustrate the contributions of indigenous and traditional knowledge to advancing adaptation, mitigation, learning and development. It will also be an opportunity to learn about innovative partnerships between the UN System and indigenous peoples.
The case studies presented will notably illustrate how indigenous knowledge is reinforcing key elements of the Paris Agreement and how to enhance partnerships with indigenous peoples and local communities for increased resilience and action on climate change.
This event is informal contribution to the 10 year anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and anniversary and to the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform (LCIP) discussion.
