于6月28日至7月1日在德国德累斯顿举行会议的教科文组织人与生物圈计划国际协调理事会作出决定，在世界生物圈保护区网络中新增18个保护区，并扩大1个现有保护区的范围。至此，世界生物圈保护区网络共囊括了114个国家的580个保护区。
