On 5 April 2018, UNESCO Special Ambassador for the Education of Children in Need, Ms Ute-Henriette Ohoven, opened an exhibition by Leon Löwentraut, a young German artist, at the Organization’s Headquarters. The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of numerous permanent delegations including His Excellency Mr Stefan Krawielicki, Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Germany to UNESCO, and Mr Leon Löwentraut.

Ms Ohoven initiative "#Art4GlobalGoals" aims to raise public awareness of the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations Member States in September 2015. Through his paintings, Leon Löwentraut delivered his artistic interpretation of each Sustainable Development Goals to promote this new vision for humanity.

"These goals have the unique feature of inviting all countries, regardless of their level of wealth, to take action to improve equality of opportunity and well-being at the same time as the protection of the planet. They recognize that the eradication of poverty can only go hand in hand with strategies that stimulate growth and meet a wide range of social needs in terms of education, health, protection and employment opportunities, while mitigating climate change. This universal agenda, integrative, indivisible, leads to global measures that must sustainably improve the lives of human beings around the world, "wrote Dr. Tayfun Belgin, Director of the Museum Osthaus, in the exhibition catalogue.

The travelling exhibition, presented at UNESCO, will be displayed in various institutions to promote the Sustainable Development Goals around the world.

Ms Ute-Henriette was appointed UNESCO Special Ambassador for the Education of Children in Need in June 1992, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to UNESCO's program for the education of children in need.
