The workshop aims to build the capacities of education policy makers responsible for teacher development, teacher training curricula or school management, and educators, to implement educational interventions and approaches that contribute, effectively and appropriately, to the prevention of extreme violence in the region and the promotion of a culture of peace.

The workshop is co-organized by UNESCO – IICBA (International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa), UNESCO HQ and the Asia-Pacific Center for International Understanding (APCEIU) as a follow up to the first UNESCO International Conference on the Prevention of Violent Extremism: Taking Action (September 2016, New Delhi, India). During the workshop, participants will identify priority areas of interventions and learn pedagogical approaches that can help build learners’ resilience to violent extremism and nurture a culture of peace.
