UNESCO African regional expert meeting on indigenous knowledge and climate change

In Africa, indigenous and local knowledge has huge potential in enhancing the resilience of a population that is considered one of the most vulnerable to climate change. The inclusion of pastoralists’ knowledge and practices in the actions that governments take in relation to adaptation is a step towards enhancing the resilience and adaptation of pastoralist peoples of the continent and promoting peaceful co-existence.

The UNESCO LINKS programme will organize a three-day expert meeting to gather relevant actors in the fields of indigenous knowledge and climate change in Africa. This event aims to give a contribution towards understanding the value of indigenous knowledge and the relevance it has for the production of information about weather and climate.
