Secretariat

UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage Protection Treaties Section assumes the function of the Secretariat of the 1954 Hague Convention and its two (1954 and 1999) Protocols. The Secretariat prepares the documentation and the agenda for the meetings of the governing bodies of the 1954 Hague Convention and its 1999 Second Protocol. It also follows up the implementation of the decisions and recommendations of these bodies.

The work of the Secretariat is performed under the authority of the Director-General of UNESCO and in accordance with the Approved Programme and Budget adopted by the Organization’s General Conference.
