Curriculum vitae

Born in 1947, Mr Niiazov holds a Ph.d in applied sciences. He also earned an engineer degree in applied geodesy and diplomas in English and French language.

Mr Niiazov’s career spans more than 35 years of experience in both academic and policy-making activities. Leaving the Poly-technique Institute of Ashgabat after 15 years of affiliation, he joined the Foreign Service of Turkmenistan in 1985, and has assumed various important diplomatic positions ever since.

Mr Niiazov became First Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in 2004. Before returning to France to undertake his role as Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO (since June 2007), he was Ambassador of Turkmenistan to India (2004-2007)
