“Getting to zero”, World AIDS Day 2011 - 2011 is a landmark year

To reach the vision of zero new infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths, we must move as quickly as the AIDS virus does. This is essential to prevent new infections, to protect individuals, families and societies from the impact of the epidemic, and to advancing human rights and dignity for all. This is UNESCO’s pledge on this 2011 World AIDS Day.

UNESCO and UNFPA Jointly Support National Training of Trainers for Connections Sexuality Education Programme, 2-4 November 2011 (Phnom Penh, Cambodia)

The Cambodian Ministry of Women Affairs, with support from UNESCO and UNFPA, has recently conducted a National Training of Trainers for Creation Connection Programme. Connections is an adolescent and parent programme that helps girls and their mothers to become more confident and comfortable to talk about gender, relationships and sex.

UNESCO launches HIV poetry book on “Universal Access and Human Rights” on World AIDS Day

UNESCO Office, Jakarta has introduced their latest publication, the poetry book titled “Universal Access and Human Rights" produced with funds from UNAIDS under the framework of EDUCAIDS, the UNESCO led Global Initiative on Education and HIV & AIDS, which seeks to promote, develop and support comprehensive education sector responses to HIV and AIDS.

Literacy facilitators in far western Nepal trained in HIV and AIDS learning materials

UNESCO organized a training course on HIV and AIDS learning materials in the far western region of Nepal at the end of October which benefited 80 literacy facilitators from Doti and Bardiya districts.The instruction aimed to familiarize facilitators with HIV and AIDS knowledge, and the use of learning materials in literacy classes for the illiterate spouses of migrant workers.
