The central purpose of the Seminar is to draw up a proposal on standards for the planning of the public and tourist use of archaeological sites declared World Heritage, in line with the requirements fixed in the Convention's Operational Guidelines in February 2005.

The meeting is to give thought to the need to take the text of the World Heritage Convention as the point of departure for a planning tool, and to design the methodologies for the management of tourism according to the values which led to a site being placed on the World Heritage List.

During these days studies will be presented of particular cases from which a variety of methodologies for analysis, and monitoring systems, will be brought together.
