Indonesia reports on the implementation of the 2005 Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions

Given its richness in cultural diversity, Indonesia acknowledges the importance of culture, including cultural expressions, as an integral part of its national sustainable development plan, especially within the development of its creative economy. Throughout the years, Indonesia has initiated several efforts in order to explore and fulfill the potential contributions of culture. Among their achievements are the development of a long-term, comprehensive strategic plan by the former Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy; the formation of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, and the Creative Economy Agency; as well as the establishment of the World Culture Forum. These contributions will be detailed in Indonesia’s first quadrennial periodic report, which will be submitted to UNESCO in 2016 in fulfillment of their state party membership to the 2005 Convention.
