Since the early 1990s, life skills education has benefitted substantially from international agency advocacy and support, linked to its implementation in several countries as a key component of the education sector response to sexual health and HIV. Evidence shows that a focus on gender and power in sexuality/HIV education increases the likelihood of achieving positive sexual health outcomes, and international agencies have called for a shift to a gender-focused approach. This report presents findings from two cross-sectional surveys conducted in 2013–2014 among young (18 to 28 years) men who have sex with men (YMSM) in Yangon and Monywa, Myanmar. The primary objective of these surveys was to measure risk and protective factors and HIV related risk behaviours within this population.
