This booklet is intended for parents who wish to know more about how they can better communicate with their children on sexuality issues. It was jointly produced by the then Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and Health Promotion Board (HPB), first published in March 2008.
Improving communication skills module draws teachers' attention to the impact of communication on school climate, teacher-student relations and dynamic of interactions among students. The Module explores different communication styles and how information is transmitted, received and interpreted using body language and non-verbal communciation. Exercises and role plays help teachers improve their communication, stress and anger-management through practice and develop conflict resolution skills.

This study describes sexual communication among Thai parents and their teens and identifies variables related to communication about sex in urban Thai families. Data were derived from 420 families whose teenage children ages 13-14 years were randomly selected using the probability proportional to size technique. Interviews were conducted with 1 parent and 1 teenage child in each family. In-depth interviews were also conducted in 30 parents and teens drawn from the same 420 families. …
This impact assessment study aims to examine coverage of harm reduction interventions in Vietnam among injecting drug users and female sex workers from 2004-2009 and to understand the HIV transmission dynamics in Vietnam and to estimate the extent to which harm reduction interventions among core groups have contributed towards epidemiological trends and reduced HIV transmission in Vietnam during the 2004-2009 strategy.
We decided to implement this project here in our province (Western Highlands Province, WHP) among 30 institutions due to the fact that there is no decrease to the spread of HIV/AIDS here. HIV/AIDS is on the rise here (PNG) amongst young people. Many young people including schooling teenagers have died of HIV/AIDS. It involves teachers as well, among many who are dying daily in the Province and the country as a whole. Another factor is that HIV/AIDS is highly spreading here in PNG especially among young people. …

The goal of this strategy is to engage stakeholders at every level to do their part in: (1) raising awareness and serving as advocates for HIV; (2) providing appropriate and accurate information; (3) influencing the social norms in their communities and (4) providing the necessary support for people to adopt behaviours which can prevent HIV transmission as well as help reduce stigma and discrimination associated with it.
Bangladesh is in a precarious position in relation to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Rates are currently low compared to the rest of the South Asian region, and the disease is relatively confined to small, high-risk populations -mainly injection drug users (IDUs) and commercial sex workers. Yet if steps are not taken quickly to keep the epidemic in check, it could easily spread to the general population as it has in other countries nearby. This would both increase the negative impact of HIV/AIDS and make it much harder to target for containment. …

This final report is an overview of workshops of the 1st National Young People's Planning Forum (NYPPF). The goal of this forum to institutionalize young people's participation and to provide recommendations for the 2009-2010 Operational Plan relevant to the on-going assessment of the 4th AIDS Medium Term Plan of the Government of the Philippines National AIDS Response. It quotes 76 HIV-positive speakers from Asia, the Pacific, Australia and Africa and presents the reasons, benefits and negative consequences of speaking out in public. The social, legal and financial aspects of the support needed by an HIV-positive person before going public are considered. The practical skills and steps for public speaking are discussed.
