The 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee is kicking off today in Manama, Bahrain. From 24 June to 4 July, the Committee members will examine the nomination of 30 sites for inscription on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Also, the Committee will examine the state of conservation of 157 sites already on the World Heritage List. 54 of those sites, are also on the List of World Heritage in Danger.
