This document discusses the regional sectoral mobilization workshop on HIV/AIDS in the Education Sector. It was noted that the pandemic was resulting in reduced demand for education, reduced quality of, as well as inability for delivery b, the education system. With this realisation and the consequent discussion of the causes behind it, the regional sector gaol was described as to promote , coordinate and support individual and collective efforts of member States in reducing the transmission, incidence and impact of HIV/AIDS infection within the education and training sector.
This was the first UNICEF in-house capacity building workshop on the subject of adoption. This is a report on a conference held to discuss the issue of Advocacy on Psychosocial Support for Children Affected by AIDS. This call to action is a result of the gathering of 50 participants, coming from 8 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa, representing nongovernmental organisations, institutions of higher learning, church organisations, Southern African Development Community (SADC), UNICEF, UNAIDS, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and youth interested in psychosocial support for children affected by AIDS.
The Workshop was funded by USAID and was convened, organised and chaired by the Health Economics and HIV/AIDS Research Division of the University of Natal (HEARD). The main objective of the workshop was to develop an understanding of the impact of the pandemic on education and the economy, and begin to provide management guidelines and frameworks to assist in dealing with the functional realities of administration and planning in a dramatically changing situation.

This is a report of a workshop for Grassroots Women's Organisation in Africa and was organised in Abidjan from 7-11 September 1998 by UNESCO in co-operation with UNAIDS Regional HIV Development Project. The overall objectives were to reduce the rate of HIV transmission among African women by rendering them capable of protecting themselves through a reinforced awareness, and by giving them appropriate knowledge and skills.
