The President of Armenia expresses support for UNESCO in meeting with the Director-General

President Armen Sarkissian of Armenia committed his country’s full support and stressed his willingness to develop its cooperation with the Organization during a meeting with Director-General Audrey Azoulay at UNESCO on 13 November. The Director-General thanked the President for Armenia’s commitment and highlighted its efforts in the fields of education and culture.

Referring to the excellent work and high level of expertise of the Matenadaran Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts on preservation of cultural heritage, Ms. Azoulay spoke of UNESCO’s interest to strengthen cooperation with the Institute, in particular in providing training on the preservation of archival and manuscript heritage.

She also congratulated Armenia for successfully hosting the Francophonie Summit from 11-12 October.
