All of UNESCO's work, "the conscience of the United Nations", is based on the conviction that peace, in order to be sustainable, must be based on international intellectual cooperation through the promotion of education and culture. , science and freedom of expression. It is only through this moral solidarity of humanity, based on mutual understanding of peoples, respect for human dignity, sharing of cultures and knowledge, and collective intelligence that we will develop a culture of peace .
UNESCO's mission is more relevant than ever to provide sustainable responses to today's challenges. Its collaborative method, open to civil society, makes it a unique global incubator of peace initiatives. That is why it was natural to associate ourselves with the Paris Peace Forum to build together a more lasting peace.

UNESCO at the Paris Peace Forum: discover an innovative project
UNESCO and Colombia will showcase an innovative project promoting integration in a post-conflict situation through safeguarding living heritage. Following sixty years of armed conflict in Colombia, UNESCO and the Colombian authorities have launched an innovative project for integration and coexistence through culture, in the framework of the 2016 Peace Agreement. This project, which started in July 2018, aims to contribute to the integration of ex-combatants of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC-EP) in the territory of Pondores and to restore social links with host communities, building on living heritage as a tool for dialogue and a vehicle for shared values. This project is co-funded by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund and Colombia.
