Discussion on African Contemporary Arts

Within the framework of its new activity, the Africa Department is organizing a round table on the theme The Art World Eco-System – how different stakeholders need to work to develop the industry. This round table discussion, which will be on African contemporary art, take place in Room IV from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 7 November 2018.

It is the first in the series that will be known as the Africa Department Discussions, the aim of which is to showcase the different areas in which Africans are making great strides in the creative industries. The aim is to endeavour, with the help and from the point of view of industry experts, to identify actions that need to be taken by governments, as well as by the Organization, to boost the efforts of the continents creative actors so they can better contribute to African economies.

The panel will include the following people:

· Azu Nwagbogu, Curator, Founder and Director of the African Artists’ Foundation and of the Lagos Photo Festival (South Africa)
· Victoria Mann, Founder, Also Known as Africa Fair (AKAA Fair, Paris)
· Ayo Adeyinka, Curator, Art Consultant and Founder of Tafeta Gallery (London)
· Salimata Diop, Director of the Museum of Photography in Saint-Louis (Senegal)
· Nelly Wandji, Art and Design Entrepreneur, owner of Nelly Wandgi Gallery (Paris)
· Alune Be, Franco-Senegalese photographer and architect (Senegal)
· Richard Mudariki, Artist (Zimbabwe and South Africa)
