This is the annual governance meeting for the Tsunami Warning System in the North-eastern Atlantic, the Mediterranean and Connected Seas (NEAM) region, coordinated by UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission.
The session will discuss the status of National Tsunami Warning Centers and the international Tsunami Service Providers. The meeting will also review the activities carried out by the technical working groups and task teams and discuss the evaluation of the NEAMWave 17 Tsunami Exercise (31 October-3 November 2017) and plans for future exercises. Finally, the session is expected to discuss strategy and plans for the NEAM Tsunami Information Center (NEAMTIC), which focuses on community preparedness, awareness and education.
