Visit of UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay to Kenya, 27 to 29 November

26 November 2018

From 27 to 29 November, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay will make her first official visit to Kenya, which will also be her trip to East Africa.

During the visit, Ms Azoulay will meet the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, and the Ministers of Education, Culture and Telecommunications.

On the morning of 28 November, the Director-General will take part, alongside some 20 Heads of State and Government, in the Sustainable Blue Economy Conference on sustainability in ocean resource management (at the Nairobi International Conference Centre).

Finally, on 29 November, Ms Azoulay will visit the Mount Kenya Biosphere Reserve, the second highest peak in Africa (5200m), whose retreating glaciers are a source of concern. There she will meet local residents, notably women, who benefit from awareness programmes on climate change issues.
