UNESCO Medal 'For the Development of Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies'

This medal was established at the initiative of the International Commission responsible for developing the Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS) theme on nanoscience and nanotechnologies, with support from the Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO. The medal is in recognition of significant contributions to the development of nanosciences and nanotechnologies.

EOLSS is an integrated knowledge base focusing on sustainable development in all aspects from ecological issues to human security. With contributions from thousands of scientists and experts in over 100 countries, this web-based encyclopedia is the result of an unprecedented global effort.

Laureates

On 22 November 2018, seven eminent scientists and scientific institutions received the UNESCO Medals for contributions to the development of nanoscience and nanotechnologies during a ceremony held at UNESCO headquarters, Paris.
