Cairo, Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art, concluded the third Popular Heritage Forum on a high note
The Popular Heritage Forum is an important event in Cairo, as it offers the opportunity to exchange expertise between artisans and students and to build partnerships between the talented Egyptian craftsmen and the public sector. The aim of the event is to improve citizens’ access to cultural life and strengthen dissemination of cultural activities, goods and services.
This year Forum was held in collaboration with Cairo Governorate, the Helwan University and the Faculty of Applied Arts and included live performances of artisans from various fields such as arabesque, lathing and mother of pearl inlaying. The students of Applied Arts received a training form well experienced craftsmen, who engaged together to promote creativity among young generations and thus broaden opportunities for creators and professionals in the cultural sector. After the training, the students exhibited and sold their products in a pavilion which was open to the general public.
