The Creative City of Music of Adelaide celebrated the International Jazz Day on 30 April 2018 at the Adelaide Festival Centre, which showcased some of Australia’s finest jazz performers. The event was curated by the Adelaide’s musicians Ross McHenry and Mark Simeon Ferguson, who played together with other Australian jazz performers. Among them, there were the award winning Anita Wardell (UK); Ross McHenry Trio (featuring pianist Brenton Foster, saxophonist Adam Page and drummer Josh Baldwin); COMA (Creative Original Music Adelaide) featuring Alex Taylor (Trombone); Sam Cagney (Guitar) and Lyndon Gray (Double Bass), as well as some of the next generation Jazz students from Elder Conservatory Jazz School.

With its rich programme, the International Jazz Day in Adelaide highlighted the great variety of South Australian talents and played an important role in promoting Jazz as an art form, an educational tool and a driving force for dialogue among artists and people.
