Aportes para la Enseñanza de la Escritura

This book forms part of a larger collection, entitled Aportes para la Enseñanza (Contributions to Teaching), which includes four volumes, one for each area assessed in the Third Regional Comparative and Explanatory Study (TERCE): reading, writing, mathematics and natural sciences. The research was carried out by the Latin American Laboratory for the Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE), an organism made up of 15 countries in the region and coordinated by the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO Santiago).

These four volumes share the same fundamental purpose: to use the results of TERCE to bring the results of the assessment of achievements in learning to the teachers and provide them with tools for their classroom work.

Aportes para la enseñanza de la Escritura (Contributions to teaching Writing) is divided into five sections. The first presents an approach to teaching writing in the region, based on a review of the curriculum analysis that serves as a framework for assessment of tests, specifying the purposes, objectives, characteristics and orientation of teaching this discipline. The second section describes the TERCE test, highlighting the learning that it assesses based on the dimensions and indicators outlined on the scorecards used to correct texts written by the students. The third part analyzes students' results in the indicators assessed in third and sixth grades. The fourth section shows examples of responses that represent different levels of achievement, and the fifth provides suggestions or proposals of teaching practices that promote more advanced learning among students.
