First meeting of UNESCO Director-General Azoulay with Prime Minister Abe of Japan

The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, will meet for the first time, Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister of Japan, at the Maison de la Culture du Japon in Paris tomorrow, Thursday 18 October, at 10.30 a.m.

This meeting symbolizes the opening of a new chapter in the strategic partnership between UNESCO and Japan, one of UNESCO’s key partners. Reinforced support to the Organization’s initiatives is expected to focus particularly on girls and women’s education, UNESCO’s reflection on artificial intelligence and the Revive the Spirit of Mossul initiative.

At 10.30 am, accredited journalists will be able to participate in a photoshoot of the beginning of the meeting, and when it is over, they will be invited to follow the Prime Minister and Director-General as they tour the cultural centre.
