Call for consultants for the formulation of IHP-IX

12 November 2018

Planning the future IHP-IX (2022-2029):
Looking for senior consultants to coordinate the Working Group

The IHP Secretariat is looking for applications for two senior consultant positions to help coordinate the Task Force that will draft the next, Ninth Phase of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP-IX, 2022-2029).

The IHP is the only intergovernmental programme of the UN system devoted to water research, water resources management, and education and capacity building. The Programme, founded in 1975, was implemented in six-year programmatic time intervals or phases until 2013. As of 2014, the programmatic cycle shifted to an eight-year cycle aligned with the overall UNESCO planning efforts. The current eighth phase, IHP-VIII, is focusing on water security in the period 2014-2021.

In this framework, the 23rd IHP Intergovernmental Council approved the plan for the preparation of IHP-IX, including the establishment of a dedicated Task Force to be coordinated by the IHP Secretariat with the help of two senior consultants. The Task Force will design IHP-IX in close consultation with the UNESCO Water Family and relevant partners. The consultants shall work for a cumulated period of 2 months within an overall timeframe of 2 years.
