- Democratic Republic of Congo – Shelters for Street Children
This project is a joint initiative of UNESCO, International Community of Emmaus and the Association of Street Youth and Development. - Lesotho – Orphans of Malealea
UNESCO in Lesotho supports a project for orphans in the village of Malealea, which is based on a previous German initiative to ensure the survival of children and their grandparents, promoting school attendance wherever possible. - Liberia – Sports centre for former child soldiers
This special project was launched in 2005 and aims to re-integrate Liberian former child soldiers into society through sport activities, channelling their aggression in a positive direction, preparing them for a return into their community. - Mozambique – Orphans in Maputo
This project allows orphans aged 0 to 5 to enjoy not only food, good health and hygiene, but also adequate psychological and educational care. - Namibia – Early childhood education and care in the San Communities
This project, monitored by UNESCO, seeks to build on the Namibian government’s work for the San minority, promoting early childhood development, sensitizing communities as to the value of education. - Senegal - “Manfred Ulmer” Paediatric Hospital
UNESCO supports a local paediatric hospital, “Manfred Ulmer”, which provides emergency care, special treatment and hospitalization for children as well as an external patients’ ward with consulting services for mothers. - Senegal – HOPE ‘87
This project in Dakar and in the impoverished suburb of Baraka, is carried out by HOPE’87. - Zimbabwe – St Francis Boarding School
This project supplies material support to the St Francis Boarding School and its orphans in rural Zimbabwe.
