UNESCO will convene an Expert Meeting to elaborate the conceptual and technical architecture for the Global Data Set on intercultural dialogue, as well as exploring how the data can be used to innovate UNESCO’s operational interventions to promote and mobilize intercultural dialogue on the ground. Invited participants include academics, representatives of different international and regional organisations and experts from specialized institutes. The meeting will be held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, on 5 and 6 December 2018.
As the UNESCO led International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013 – 2022) reaches its halfway point, UNESCO is reflecting on how its work on intercultural dialogue can be rendered more evidence-driven and responsive to the needs of Member States.
In this context, UNESCO is developing a comprehensive Global Data Set on Intercultural Dialogue, measuring both the conditions that enable intercultural dialogue to be mobilized effectively, and its impact on achieving key development and security objectives. On the basis of the data produced through this initiative, UNESCO will innovate its operational offering to Member States, providing new, multisectoral interventions which respond directly to the insights drawn from the data.
