Bologna, along with eight other Italian creative cities: Milan, Pesaro, Rome, Torino, Carrara, Fabriano,
UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, designated the Italian poet and writer Maria Francesca Merloni as Goodwill Ambassador for Creative Cities on Wednesday 4 October 2017 at a ceremony held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
The Italian Creative City of Crafts and Folk, Fabriano, has been selected to host the Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2019.
From 28 to 30 October, the Creative City of Fabriano in cooperation with the Foundation Aristide Merloni, organize a series of meetings on the theme of the “common place”. The event will focus on transversal approaches associating philosophy, literature, media arts and music to further discuss and re-think the concept of city.
After the success of last year's first edition, Fabriano (Italy) organized the second UNESCO Creative Cities’ Forum. From 4 to 6 September 2015, representatives from several member cities of the Network gathered in the Italian city to exchange ideas on the theme “Industrial City, Creative City”.
