SZ+DAY's 2015 edition: Young designers of 16 Creative Cities awarded
On 27th of June, the awarding ceremony of the second edition of the Shenzhen Design Award for Young Talents (SZ+DAY) took place at the China Culture Center in Paris.
14 out of 16 winning designers or teams, together with representatives from 16 Creative Cities came to Paris for the event. Francesco Bandarin, the Assistant Director-General for Culture, Xiuqin ZHANG, the Ambassador of China Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, Elaine Ayotte, the Ambassador of Canada Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, and Gangming KE, the Director of Shenzhen Bureau of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, attended the ceremony.
A design projects sharing session was organized on the same day, as well as an exhibition of the winners’ projects were arranged in parallel of the ceremony.
The Design Sub-Network took this opportunity and had a meeting on the 28th. Representatives from 15 Cities of Design attended the Sub-network Meeting, including 4 new members namely Detroit, Kaunas, Puebla, and Singapore. UNESCO representatives briefed the Sub-Network on the progress of UCCN. Upcoming annual conference in Östersund, Sweden in September, major design events in perspective cities were among the topics.
