The Creative City of Santos inaugurates its Technology Park for Children
Since its designation in 2015, Santos, Creative City of Film has been able to combine technological innovation, cultural diversity and urban sustainable development through its wide range of initiatives. In particular, the city showed how creativity plays a key role for urban renewal and inclusion of vulnerable groups and community empowerment in its Film festival CulturalMente as well as in the recycling center called Creative Ecofactory.
Once again, Santos builds synergies among creative fields to educate its young citizens and regenerate the urban environment, launching the Technology Park for Children.
The Santos of Future - Technology Park for children is a initiative established through a partnership among Santos City Hall (public sector), Foundation Technology Park of Santos (NGO which manages the Santos Technology Park), SEBRAE (NGO focused on Business and Entreprenerial Development in Brazil) and public universities.
The park targets 7-12 years old children and aims to raise awareness about creative innovation and to develop entrepreneurial skills through classes on digital technologies, robotics , media arts and film. The programme expects to host 600 children of public schools in the central areas of the city and it is also conceived as a strategy to regenerate these neighborhoods through education and cultural development.
The initiative also aims to involve other Creative Cities to share experiences and organize exchanges to offer these children the opportunity to interact with other cultures.
