Terms of Use of the Services and Data of UNESCO’s Atlas of the World’s Languages in Danger

Use of the information provided in UNESCO’s Atlas of the World’s Languages in Danger (henceforth, Atlas) and its services are subject to the following Terms of Use. These Terms of Use are updated and displayed in the UNESCO website at http://www.unesco.org/languages-atlas/.  By accessing or using this information you agree to be bound by these Terms as set forth.

I. Permissions, privacy and copyright

For the Terms of Use of the name, acronym and/or logo of UNESCO, the privacy policy and permissions regarding translation and reproduction rights, see http://www.unesco.org/new/en/terms-of-use/.

Linking to the Atlas: Any external website may provide a hyperlink to the Atlas without requesting permission. However, this must not infringe UNESCO’s intellectual property rights in particular relating to its name, logo, copyright or author’s rights. The UNESCO logo may not be used in providing a hyperlink unless specifically authorized by mutual agreement or partnership:

Copyright: All contents on this website are protected by copyright. UNESCO is pleased to allow those who may choose to access the site to download and copy the materials for personal and non-commercial use only. d.      Country(ies) or area(s) where the language is spoken

e.      Country code(s)

f.       Language codes ISO 639-3

g.      Degree of vitality

h.      Alternative name(s), when available

i.        Language name in the original language/script, when available

j.        Number of speakers, when available

k.      References

l.        Geographic coordinates

m.   Textual description of locations

II. 2. In addition to the permissions and copyright-related provisions outlined in Section I above, the following terms must be respected:

-         you may not modify the data posted on this site;

-         you are invited to regularly check our website for updates of the data;

-         if you wish to obtain the extended dataset, please send a written request to atlas(at)unesco.org, specifying the purpose and conditions of the use that you will make of it;

-         if requested, you will graciously provide to UNESCO the materials (electronic, print, audio-visual and multimedia) that you will have developed on the basis of the Atlas dataset;

-         you are not authorized to redistribute the data without UNESCO’s written consent (requests to be sent to atlas(at)unesco.org)
