The famous Mexican writer Andrés Roemer was designated UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Societal Change and the Free Flow of Knowledge (2017-2019) in September 2017. Mr Roemer received this title in recognition of his commitment to promoting free and pluralistic societies as a contribution to peace and human rights.

In 2008, he created La Ciudad de las Ideas (CDI), an International Festival promoting creativity and innovation through social entrepreneurship. The festival is considered one of the most important conferences on creativity in Latin America.

In his capacity as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Andrés Roemer brings his support to UNESCO’s Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme, an intergovernmental science programme focusing on social transformations.
