    Objective: HIV prevalence trends suggest that the epidemic is stable or declining in many sub-Saharan African countries. However, trends might differ between socioeconomic groups. Educational attainment is a common measure of socioeconomic position in HIV datasets from Africa. Several studies have shown higher HIV prevalence among more educated groups, but this may change over time.     Cet ouvrage recense les effets de la pandémie sur l'offre et la demande dans l'enseignement primaire et secondaire au Burkina Faso, ainsi que les réponses apportées pour limiter ces effets. Il en ressort avant tout une très forte stigmatisation dans le milieu scolaire. Celle-ci entraine notamment une faible participation des enseignants vivants avec le VIH dans les efforts de prévention, une formation insuffisante des enseignants, ainsi qu'un manque de prise en charge des orphelins et un accès limité aux soins pour les personnes séro positives.

  12. HIV/AIDS and the Education Sector in Nigeria: Review of policy and research documents

    This literature review on HIV/AIDS and education in Nigeria was undertaken in preparation for a regional workshop on the "Education Research Response to HIV/AIDS" which took place in Bamako, Mali in June 2004.
