Condolences note on the passing of Bernardo Brummer

The Representation in Brazil of the United Nations Scientific, Cultural and Educational Organizations (UNESCO in Brazil) regrets the passing of its ex-staff Bernardo Marcelo Brummer (1947-2019) that happened last Friday, 01 February, 2019.

Bernardo began to work at the UNESCO office in Brazil in the 90’s. He acted as a Programme Officer of Natural Sciences Unit until 2009. He gave an important contribution to the structuring of the sector in the country. He was very active in managing projects related to environment, biodiversity conservation, and promoting sustainable development. He represented a relevant link between UNESCO in Brazil and the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MaB), which is led by the Organization Headquaters. Besides being a respectful professional in his field, he was appreciated and admired by his colleagues. Bernardo will be kept in the memories of those who worked with him as a very gentle, friendly, and collaborative person.
