This strategy was revised in 2016, in consultation and collaboration with concerned field Offices in the region, such as UNESCO Office in Cairo, Jordan, Ramallah, and the Region Bureau in Beirut. Officers and specialists came up with a joint strategy to address the issue of education in times of crisis, which takes its place in the framework of Sustainable Goal 4 of Agenda 2030.

Not only does it seek to tackle the effects of the Syria crisis over education, but also those of over conflicts affecting the Arab world. Its three areas of action are:

• Access to education: UNESCO seeks to ensure access to schools and universities for children and youth;
• Strengthening education systems so as to make them resilient to crises;
• Providing quality education and learning to all.

To clarify the process, goals and outcomes of this strategy, UNESCO Office in Beirut issued four videos, each detailing precise aspects of the project.

The first one, EASE Project in Lebanon, describes the program "Enhancing Access to Secondary Education and Quality Results for Youth Affected by the Syria Crisis in Lebanon". Gathering several testimonials from youth who enrolled in this program, this video shows the importance of quality education for all and the different ways UNESCO Office in Beirut works to reach this goal.

The second video, Challenges of Higher Education in Crisis: Voices from Syrian Refugee Youth in Lebanon, focuses on higher education and access to universities for displaced youth. Access to such, allow those young people to overcome the crisis and to prepare for a better future, despite the political and social instability in their native country.

The third video, UNESCO-UNRWA: A Partnership for Education, depicts the outcomes of the long-term collaboration between the two agencies. This partnership has supported four generations of Palestine refugees, even in times of crisis. Education is UNRWA largest program, providing free-basic education to over half-a-million Palestine refugee-students, in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Gaza and the West Bank.

The fourth and last video, Leaving No One Behind: UNESCO Arab Regional Response to Education in Emergencies, is a short-movie that focuses in details on UNESCO's global strategy for education in the Middle East in times of crisis. Giving young people enrolled in our diverse programs the opportunity to speak out for education and explain their own experiences, this video aims at highlighting the benefits of quality education for all.
