This document is one of the materials developed during the course of the "Kafue Adolescent Reproductive Health Project" (KARHP) in Zambia. It is designed to train and guide parents and older educators in leading community-based education sessions with community members. It provides details on the kind of techniques needed when conducting community meetings and one-to-one sessions. The manual also outlines several activities that can be used to promote interest in the program among the community. It explains the purpose of each activity, gives step-by-step instructions, estimates time and materials needed for each activity, and provides fact sheets, questionnaires, case studies, and role plays. Also included is advice on how each section of the manual can be adapted to suit the needs of the group and the time available for each session. It consists of the following chapters: 1) The Family; 2) Self- Awareness; 3) Gender and Sexual Expression; 4) Family Planning and Contraception; 5) Relationships; 6) Responsible Parenthood; 7) Personal and Sexual Health; 8) Abuse and Violence; and 9) Substance use and Abuse.
