  • What is TVET?
    TVET stands for Technical and Vocational Education and Training. TVET is concerned with the acquisition of knowledge and skills for the world of work. Read more
  • What does UNEVOC stand for?
    UNEVOC is a made-up word, much like a brand name. The term combines UNESCO and VOCational education. It was first used in an agreement between UNESCO and the Government of Germany on the former "International Project on Technical and Vocational Education (UNEVOC)" dated 17 July 1992.
  • Can I study at UNESCO-UNEVOC?
    No. UNESCO-UNEVOC is not a provider of technical and vocational education and training services. Read more

    No. UNESCO-UNEVOC does not provide financial assistance to individuals or organizations. It serves UNESCO Member States worldwide to develop and strengthen TVET through promoting best and innovative practices in TVET, developing TVET systems, improving access to TVET, and assuring the quality of TVET.   • How is UNESCO-UNEVOC funded?
    UNESCO-UNEVOC is an integral part of UNESCO, and therefore receives regular budget from UNESCO. Additionally, it receives funding from the German host Government. Read more
  • Why is UNESCO-UNEVOC located in Bonn?
    The "UNEVOC Project" was initiated in 1992 in close cooperation with the German Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), then located in Berlin. On 12 July 2000, an agreement between Germany and UNESCO concerning the hosting of UNEVOC was signed. In Article 4, Bonn was agreed as the location of the centre, and the German Government agreed to provide the premises. On the weekend of 1 to 3 September 2000, UNESCO-UNEVOC moved to Bonn. In February 2002, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan signed a contract to develop Bonn further to become a UN city. The former governmental and parliamentary quarter in Bonn has since become a UN Campus, hosting more than a dozen UN agencies. Use of the premises has generously been granted free of charge by the German Government.

  • Can I access UNEVOC publications?
    Many of UNEVOC's publications are free of charge and available for download. If you require hard copies, please contact us at unevoc.publications(at)unesco.org. If publications are not available for download, please contact us or order them directly from the publishers.
  • How do I become part of the UNEVOC Network?
    UNEVOC Centres are nominated by the National Commission of UNESCO of their UNESCO Member State. Therefore, if your institution meets the criteria and you wish your institution to become a member of the UNEVOC Network, please check with the National Commission for UNESCO or with UNESCO-UNEVOC as to whether UNEVOC Centres have already been nominated.   • How do I know if a certificate issued by UNESCO-UNEVOC is real?
    In general, UNESCO-UNEVOC does not issue any academic certificates. Unfortunately, we are vulnerable to scams. We have in the past found examples of institutions claiming to hand out certificates issued by UNESCO-UNEVOC, using the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre logo and even an imitated stamp. Please note that UNESCO-UNEVOC will never ask you to pay for certificates or to provide credit card details for obtaining such. When in doubt about the authenticity of a certificate carrying our name or logo, please contact us.
