10 May 2017 Third International Conference on Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Caribbean Theme: "TVET for Sustainable Regional Development”. The objective of the conference is to create an advocacy platform for integrating sustainable principles in regional TVET policies, practices and programmes. (more)

16 August 2016 HEART Trust NTA celebrates World Youth Skills Day The HEART Trust NTA in Jamaica, in cooperation with WorldSkills Jamaica, hosted a one-day skills competition and jobs fair under the theme 'Skills in Motion - Skills Rule the World'. The event was organized to, among other things, celebrate World Youth Skills Day 2016. (more)

20 May 2016 HEART Trust/NTA holds inaugural Greening in TVET seminar The HEART Trust/NTA in Jamaica (cluster coordinator for the Caribbean cluster) held an inaugural Greening in TVET seminar on April 19, 2016. The seminar discussed green skills and their alignment with technical and vocational education and training (TVET) for sustainable development. (more)

28 September 2015 UNESCO-UNEVOC participates in UKFIET From 15 to 17 September 2015, 550 participants met in London, the United Kingdom, for the UKFIET International Conference on Education and Development. (more)

28 September 2015 UNESCO-UNEVOC welcomes nine new member institutions of the UNEVOC Network UNESCO-UNEVOC is pleased to announce that nine institutions have joined the UNEVOC Network in 2015! The new institutions are from Brunei Darussalam, Ghana, Mexico, the United Republic of Tanzania, Namibia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Botswana and Grenada. (more)

The Second International Conference on TVET in the Caribbean “STEM Education in TVET: Imperative to National and Regional Development” served to establish a platform for reforming education systems. 5 September 2014 Experts’ seminar on improving evidence-based research and supporting greater investment in TVET On 31 August 2014, Mr Shyamal Majumdar, Head of UNESCO-UNEVOC, and Kenneth Barrientos, Programme Officer UNESCO-UNEVOC, attended and contributed to an expert seminar organized by TAFE Directors Australia and NCVER, both of whom are members of the UNEVOC Network and joint coordinator for the Pacific cluster. 13 December 2013 HEART Trust (UNEVOC Centre Jamaica) - TVET Symposium The HEART Trust held a TVET Symposium on October 31, 2013 under the theme 'Advancing Economic Development through TVET.' Jamaica's Minister of Industry and Commerce, the Honourable Anthony Hylton, spoke about the plans for the logistics hub in Jamaica. The keynote speaker was Mr. Robert Ready, Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica. Key issues in TVET were explored such as Jamaica's TVET policy and its strategic implications, Quality Assurance in TVET, Repositioning the Apprenticeship System, Industry Engagement. (more)

11 June 2013 The HEART Trust /NTA officially launches its UNEVOC Centre on 28 May 2013 Having been recognized as a Centre in 2007, this official launch, geared towards fostering awareness among internal staff and external stakeholders about the UNEVOC Centre was endorsed by the group of one hundred (100) TVET practitioners who were in attendance. 11 April 2013 HEART Trust hosts symposium on TVET for Transformation and Economic Development In order to engage the TVET community in Jamaica with pertinent issues in TVET and as part of the wider efforts of the HEART Trust, the Vocational Training Development Institute – the tertiary arm of the HEART Trust/ National Training Agency, hosted a symposium on 7 March 2013.
