3 June 2013 Preparing Better Teachers for Tomorrow Five high priority PBTT-O (Preparing Better Teachers for Tomorrow-Online) are now available for free to Resource Persons (persons qualified to prepare preservive or inservice TVET teachers. Module competencies include Develop Performance Objectives, Develop a Lesson Plan, Demonstrate a Manipulative Skill, Direct Student Laboratory Experience, & Assess Student Performance: Skills. Many others are to be developed. These modules have been researched, developed, field tested and proven effective. They are best used in a blended approach and require the actual demonstration of performance in an actual teaching situation as evidence of achieving competence. There is a reasonable charge of $75 US for the five modules for four months of student access. (more)

12 September 2018 UNEVOC Latin American Network Strengthens Ties During its annual REDITEC meeting in Brazil, the National Council of the Federal Network of Vocational, Scientific, and Technological Education Institutions (Conif), jointly with UNESCO-UNEVOC, organized a UNEVOC Network cluster meeting for Latin America. 15 July 2018 The UNEVOC Network celebrates World Youth Skills Day On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day (15 July), more than 30 UNEVOC Centres celebrated the importance of Skills for Youth, through conferences, workshop, skills exhibition and promotional campaigns. 12 March 2017 CICAN releases a publication on green skills Colleges and Institutes Canada, panCanadian UNEVOC centre, is pleased to announce the release of the publication Green Skills for Sustainable Economic Growth: The Role of Canadian Colleges and Institutes in Advancing Education for Sustainability in Canada and Overseas. Authored by researcher Helen Knibb (Canadian Studies doctoral program, Trent University, and former faculty from Fleming College), the report was commissioned by CICan in 2016 as part of input on our members’ behalf to Global Affairs Canada’s review of international assistance. 12 October 2016 Report recognizes UNEVOC Centre's contribution to Canadian economy According to a new economic impact study, Canadian colleges and institutes, and the people they have trained, generated over $190 billion in added income for the national economy in 2014-15. The report emphasizes the critical role CICan plays in supporting economic growth and prosperity for the benefit of all Canadians. (more)

14 June 2016 Pan Canadian UNEVOC Centre holds Annual Conference The 2016 Annual Conference of Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), the Canadian UNEVOC Centre brought together over 750 participants from colleges and institutes from across Canada, as well as over 50 stakeholders from around the world. The Annual Conference discussed CICan’s future activities, especially in light of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris climate agreement. (more)

19 November 2015 UNEVOC Centre publishes fall 2015 edition of the UNESCO-UNEVOC newsletter for North America! Colleges and Institutes Canada has published the fall 2015 edition of the UNESCO-UNEVOC newsletter for North America. In this edition, they chose to focus on one of the main priorities of UNESCO-UNEVOC: "Greening TVET". (more)

12 December 2014 New country reports in World TVET Database New country reports have been published for Benin, Cambodia, Chad, Iraq, Latvia, Lithuania, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Qatar, South Africa, Uganda and USA. UNESCO-UNEVOC continues to expand the World TVET Database and more country reports will be available soon. (more)

22 September 2014 UNESCO-UNEVOC participates in International Congress on Vocational and Professional Education and Training From 15 to 18 September, Ms Imke Kottmann, Programme Expert UNESCO-UNEVOC, participated in the first International Congress on Vocational and Professional Education and Training in Winterthur, Switzerland. 5 September 2014 Experts’ seminar on improving evidence-based research and supporting greater investment in TVET On 31 August 2014, Mr Shyamal Majumdar, Head of UNESCO-UNEVOC, and Kenneth Barrientos, Programme Officer UNESCO-UNEVOC, attended and contributed to an expert seminar organized by TAFE Directors Australia and NCVER, both of whom are members of the UNEVOC Network and joint coordinator for the Pacific cluster. 1 July 2013 Head of UNESCO-UNEVOC presents at ACCC Annual Conference From 1 to 3 June 2013, and on the occasion of the Annual Conference of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC), Mr Shyamal Majumdar, Head of the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre, held a key note speech in the framework of the discussion focusing on Transforming Peoples and Communities. 11 April 2013 HEART Trust hosts symposium on TVET for Transformation and Economic Development In order to engage the TVET community in Jamaica with pertinent issues in TVET and as part of the wider efforts of the HEART Trust, the Vocational Training Development Institute – the tertiary arm of the HEART Trust/ National Training Agency, hosted a symposium on 7 March 2013. 30 October 2012 New UNEVOC Network member: Association of Canadian Community Colleges In October 2012, the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) joined the UNEVOC Network. It is the third UNEVOC Centre in Canada. (more)
