Upon the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah Bin Al Hussein and upon the recommendations of the Economic Consultative Council to Activate the performance of vocational and technical training institutions in the kingdom , NTTI establishment started in August 2000 , Under the umbrella of Al- Balqa Aplied University , to meet the need for a specialized institute at the national level to be the official reference to the training of trainers in general and trainers of vocational and technical training, particularly in the public and private sectors.
The establishment of NTTI was funded from the economic transformation projects , under the supervision of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and by the support of the EU commissioners , the institutional development project , Ejada
The working team of NTTI represents all stakeholders of vocational and technical education and training as following:
- Jordanian Armed Forces;
- Representative of the European Union Commission;
- Vocational Training corporation (VTC);
- National Center for Human Resources Development (NCHRD);
- Private Sector / Jordan Chamber of Industry;
- The Ministry of Education;
- Vocational and technical education institutions

The award is to seek institutional excellence in the government sector, private institutions, and nonprofit organizations. The evaluation of the award consist of individual and group office evaluation.
