UNESCO-UNEVOC Data Protection and Privacy Policy

UNESCO-UNEVOC is a sharing organization and fosters collaboration through its UNEVOC Network. Participating in UNESCO-UNEVOC’s activities requires sharing of contact information to be effective, otherwise participation will be seriously constrained. The UNEVOC Network is a voluntary network, and by becoming part of it, members agree to share information within the network. UNESCO-UNEVOC does not sell personal information.

UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for TVET gathers certain types of information about users of the International Centre’s sites and services, and we want to ensure that you fully understand the terms and conditions about the gathering and use of that information.


i. What information does the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for TVET collect and what is it used for?

If you register to create a UNEVOC Account, you have to provide information that helps to identify you. This includes your name, email address and country, and optionally further information. Your UNEVOC Account allows you to subscribe to and use a range of services.

Subscribing to the UNESCO-UNEVOC Bulletin

You can use your UNEVOC Account to subscribe to the UNEVOC Bulletin. In this case, the information you provided is used for technical and administration purposes only. It is not shared with third parties.

Subscribing to the TVeT Forum and virtual conferences

A UNEVOC Account also allows you to participate in online discussions on the TVeT Forum and virtual conferences organized on the platform. If you join the TVeT Forum and virtual conferences, the information you provide is used for technical and administration purposes, and can be used to identify contributors. Your name and country is visible to other members of the TVeT Forum. Other information, such as email addresses, are not shared with TVeT Forum members unless you choose to do so. When participating in a virtual conference your contributions may be used for a report unless you state otherwise.

By posting on the TVeT Forum and participating in virtual conferences, you agree to the TVeT Forum’s Terms of Use.

UNEVOC Network

UNEVOC Centres and their staff provide information that is collected and stored by UNESCO-UNEVOC. Some of it is accessible through the UNEVOC Network directory or associated services.

Cookies

This website uses cookies. Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer. The system settings of your browser allow you to disable the saving of such cookies on your computer. When visiting the UNEVOC website, the following cookies may be stored:

UNEVOC account: If you use a UNEVOC account, a cookie is stored upon login until you log out, or for max. 8 hours. This cookie allows us to give logged-in users access to protected areas and services of the website.

Website analytics: Cookies also help us collect information about how visitors use our website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often. We use this information to improve how our website works and help us better understand the preferences of our visitors and to improve our website and services accordingly. Our analytical reports based on these data only summarize visitors’ behaviour. For example, the reports contain statistics about the most and least visited pages on our website. The information collected is not used to trace back to a particular individual.

Integration of third-party services and content

For the purposes of our legitimate interests (i.e. our interest in analyzing, optimizing and running our Websites in a commercially viable manner within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) f. of the GDPR), we use third-party content and service delivery services on our Websites in order to incorporate content and services such as maps, videos and fonts (hereinafter jointly referred to as “content”). The third-party provider of this content always requires the User’s IP address in order to send the content to the browser of the respective User. In other words, the IP address is required to display this content. We endeavor only to use such content where the respective provider uses the IP address exclusively to deliver said content. Third-party providers may additionally use “pixel tags” (invisible image files, also known as web beacons) for statistical or marketing purposes. Pixel tags can be used to analyze information such as the number of visitors accessing the pages of this website. The pseudonymized information may additionally be stored on User devices in the form of cookies. This information includes technical information on the browser and operating system, referring websites, time spent on the website, and further details on how Users make use of our Websites, plus it can also be combined with comparable information from other sources.

Deleting UNEVOC Accounts

Upon request we will delete your UNEVOC Account and therefore the personal information stored by UNESCO-UNEVOC in the profile update form. Note that your TVeT Forum profile contributions will not normally be deleted, but can be anonymized. Please get in touch with us at unevoc.tvet-forum(at)unesco.org to inform us of messages you would like to have deleted, or if you would like to delete your UNEVOC Account.


iii. What if I do not want to share my information?

Registering for a UNEVOC Account is optional, but it is the basis for effective networking through our online services. If you choose not to register or provide personal information, you can still use UNESCO-UNEVOC’s site and access many services. However, you will not be able to participate in the TVeT Forum and virtual conferences, or in the case that your organization is a UNEVOC Centre, you will not be able to collaborate with other UNEVOC Network members easily.


iv. Security

UNESCO-UNEVOC uses a range of technologies to protect the information maintained on our systems from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
