Pooja Gianchandani

Programme Expert

Pooja Gianchandani works as Programme Expert at the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre. She is an Expert on Loan from GIZ.

She focuses on strengthening the UNEVOC knowledge resources and engagement in the thematic area of Training of TVET Teachers & Staff and improving private sector engagement for TVET in the context of youth employability, digitalisation and lifelong learning.

Prior to joining UNESCO - UNEVOC, Ms. Gianchandani has worked for several national and international institutions on strengthening private sector engagement and implementation of vocational education and training programmes. As the Director & Head for Skills at FICCI (India’s apex chamber of commerce) she led the secretariat and also served as a TVET expert on industry councils, bilateral and regional cooperation (SAARC, BRICS) committees in 18 countries in South Asia, Europe, Africa and Americas.

Most recently, as a German Chancellor Fellow (supported by the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation) hosted by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education & Training (BiBB), she conducted a qualitative study of the dual system of training from the lens of “what is the social & economic return on investment for companies, government and learners from VET?” During this research, she also did a comparative review of the dual systems in Germany, Austria & Switzerland as a Visiting Fellow at the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education & Training (SFIVET). The results of this research have been presented at many international fora including the inter-governmental India & Germany Joint Working Group on Skills & VET.

Ms. Gianchandani holds a Masters in Social Work from University of Delhi with a specialisation in Corporate Social Responsibility from the World Bank Institute. She has featured on the Apex Society, US’ ‘Power 30 under 30’ honouree list, in the business category, for her contributions in the skills development sector.
