IBE UNESCO Director Receives Delegation of the Chinese Ministry of Education

On September 8th, 2017, the IBE Director, Dr. Mmantsetsa Marope, met with H.E. Dr. LIN Huiqing, Vice-Minister of Education, China; at the IBE-UNESCO headquarters in Geneva. Mr. DU Yue, Secretary-General, Chinese National Commission for UNESCO; Ms Xi Ru, Counselor for Education, Chinese Embassy in Switzerland; Mr Hu Liang, Education section; and three more high-level education experts from China attended the event.

The meeting focused on the prospects of further collaboration between the IBE-UNESCO and the government of China in the field of higher education and training. The IBE Director expressed her appreciation for the continued support of the Chinese government to the IBE’s projects, especially the ones related to capacity building, and she stressed the importance of establishing a longstanding partnership.

The meeting was followed by a guided tour to the IBE’s Documentation centre, which is known for its collection of rare and historical textbooks and other materials related to the content of education, curriculum development and teaching methods.
