Ms Noriko Aikawa-Faure is currently the Representative of the Advisory Committee of IRCI ( ICH-related C-2 Centre, Japan) and a member of the Advisory Committee for CRIHAP ( ICH-related C-2 Centre, China). She developed the Intangible Cultural Heritage Programme at UNESCO and followed the drafting and adoption process of the Intangible Heritage Convention as Chief and Director. After retirement, she worked as an Advisor to Culture in UNESCO and a Professor at KUIS University (cultural studies), Japan. She assisted the Japanese Government in drafting ICH-related nominations as Advisor for ICH, Agency for Cultural Affairs and also evaluated nominations as a member and the Rapporteur of the Subsidiary Body for the 8.COM. Panagiota Andrianopoulou studied Archaeology in the Athens University (1991-1995) and carried out postgraduate studies in Ethnology (EHESS- Paris and in the University of Athens). Her ethnological fields of interest are the social practices and festivities in transborder Northern Greece and the social function of traditional dance both in rural and urban framework. She has lectured in several conferences on matters of heritage, urban culture, and social practices. She worked as scientific assistant and curator in the Jewish Museum of Greece (1998-2002), and participated in various research projects of the Center of Greek Folklore, the National Research Foundation and relevant scientific institutions. Since 2006 she worked in the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, dealing with intangible and tangible cultural heritage, concerning raising awareness and safeguarding measures. From 2014 in Head of the Department of Modern Movable Heritage, she regarded heritage as a coherent unit of immaterial and material values. Since 2011, she has facilitated capacity building workshops in Bulgaria, Kosovo, Romania, Croatia, Uzbekistan, French Reunion and Bosnia-Herzegovina. She has recently coordinated the 12th Annual Meeting of the South East European Regional Network of ICH Experts (october 2018 in Ljubliana, Slovenia). Since February 2018 she is appointed Head of the Department of Collections, Research and Documentation of Folk Art and Deputy Director of the National Museum of Modern Greek Culture, responsible for the scientific documentation of the new museological project and for the interrelation between museum and communities.

Mr Abderrahman Ayoub is a researcher, member of the National Heritage Institute of Tunisia (INP), Assistant Director for intangible cultural heritage till 2012. He holds a PhD. in Linguistics and has been conducting research for many years on oral literature, ethnography and arts in Tunisia, and some countries of Maghreb and the Arab world. He is the author of many publications, especially on the Arab epic, the Banâ Hilâl feat, traditional games in Tunisia (he founded the thesaurus of heritage games) and intangible cultural heritage. He is author of the Guide for managers of Human Living Treasures (published by UNESCO Rabat Office, ISESCO and the IMRS, 2006-7) and the Guide of intangible cultural heritage (ISESCO, 2010-2011 s.p.). In 2009 he moderates training workshops in Sharja (United Arab Emirates) and Amman (Jordan) on the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Dr Janet Blake is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Shahid Beheshti (Tehran), a member of the Iranian Expert Committee for ICH and a member of the Cultural Heritage Law Committee of the International Law Association and has acted as an International Consultant to UNESCO since 1999, mostly in the field of intangible cultural heritage and implementing the 2003 Convention. She has facilitated capacity-building workshops in Armenia, Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and has provided professional advice on policy and legislative development for safeguarding ICH in Palestine and Iran. Since 1999, she has acted as an international expert for UNESCO in the field of intangible cultural heritage. Ms Géraldine Chatelard is a historian and anthropologist of the contemporary Middle East, and an associate researcher at the French Institute for the Near East. She specialises in rural development, particularly among former nomadic communities, and the relations between local knowledge and environmental protection. She also has a long experience in sustainable management of natural and cultural – both tangible and intangible – heritage for tourism. She has worked with several international and national organisations, including UNESCO Iraq Office where she was Culture Programme Specialist from 2011 to 2014. Originally from Guadeloupe, he is also known for the Gwoka Festival which he founded in 1988 and since 2005 as President of Repress, Regional Centre for Traditional and Popular Music and Dance of Guadeloupe (accredited NGO UNESCO in 2007). He was the leader and main facilitator of the “Lyannaj Committee for Gwoka”, which prepared the Gwoka candidature file and completed its inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2014.

After a career at the National Museum of Mali, where he led the creation of the conservation/restoration department, Mr Fallo Baba Keita has been working in the field of international cooperation since 1998. He assisted ICCROM in the management and transfer in Africa of its first long-term programme for African countries, “PREMA 1990- 2000”, which led to the creation of the School of African Heritage (EPA), of which he was one of the key actors from 1998 to 2004. From 2005 to 2010, he was Specialist and then Head of the Africa 2009 Programme on the Conservation and Management of Immovable Cultural Heritage in Sub-Saharan Africa. A joint UNESCO/ICCROM programme. From July 2010 to October 2014, he was Director of the EPA. Jorijn Neyrinck coordinates the organization of the Workshop intangible heritage Flanders, (Werkplaats Immaterieel Erfgoed), working actively in the field of intangible cultural heritage in Flanders. Werkplaats Immaterieel Erfgoed takes an active role as a cultural broker in the field: building bridges between governments, NGOs, institutions, ICH communities and groups. To this end, Jorijn organizes a range of initiatives: from capacity building, policy support, the digital ICH platform, project management and coaching, sensitization, platforms for public dialogue, education, action research, methodological tools, conceptual reflection, publications etc. In recent years, tapis plein has cultivated ICH network development, collaborating with many actors (e.g. organizations on crafts, performing arts, local heritage units, the Flemish Government, FARO-Flemish Interface for cultural heritage, etc). Jorijn takes an active role in cross disciplinary and international networks on ICH, especially in relation to the UNESCO 2003 Convention, the ICH NGO Forum and the relation between NGOs and the Convention. Tamara Nikolić Đerić (1983) holds degrees in ethnology/cultural anthropology and indology/oriental studies. Since 2008, she has been working as curator for the Ethnographic Museum of Istria. Along with other museum activities she started and still runs the first Ethnographic film festival in Croatia, ETNOFILm, dedicated to visual documentation and interpretation of ICH. Since 2014, Nikolić Đerić collaborates as professional program manager and from 2017 as President of Ecomuseum Batana (UNESCO Register of Good safeguarding practices, 2016). Mohamed Ould Mohamed Lemine Beidjeu obtained the BAC C in 1977 and entered the Ecole Normal Supérieure de Nouakchott. As a mathematics teacher, he is interested in the introduction of computer technology in Mauritania; he accompanied the first applications of computer science to administrative and academic management at the Ministry of National Education and benefitted from several internships in this field in Tunisia, France and Egypt. Mr Enrique Perez Lopez has worked for 27 years with the indigenous communities of Chiapas, Mexico, conducting research, promotion and diffusion of indigenous cultures and languages and management of cultural projects. He has been Director of the Centro Estatal de Lenguas, Arte y Literatura Indígenas del Consejo Estatal para las Culturas y las Artes de Chiapas since 1997.

Linina Phuttitarn works with UNESCO Bangkok Office as an Individual Specialist to monitor and provide advisory services to the field teams that undertake community-based inventorying and safeguarding activities for ICH in Thailand. She provides inputs for ICH-related policy development at Thai local and national panels. In the past, she worked full time at the Culture Unit, UNESCO Bangkok on projects related to the tangible and intangible cultural heritage management and networking for sustainable development. Some of the highlight projects include the integration of ICH in education for sustainable development in Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Viet Nam, and Palau; surveying the tertiary education institutions for ICH network in the Asia-Pacific Region; and the development of Cultural Heritage Specialist Guides for the Historic Town of Sukhothai and Associated Historic Towns World Heritage Site. Linina conducted the community-based research on Salak Yom Festival in Thailand through a research grant from the Ministry of Culture of Thailand. She is a lecturer and an online content contributor at Chulalongkorn University for the Master of Arts in Cultural Management on cultural policy course and the interdisciplinary course of cross-cultural management. Linina co-founded and has been co-hosting the Thai edutaining podcast program called WiTcast. Frank Proschan is an anthropologist and folklorist who has worked as a curator at the Smithsonian Institution and a research professor at Indiana University. From the 1980s, he collaborated with colleagues in Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia in research and capacity building on languages, folklore, ethnology, and museums. In 2006, he took up a position at UNESCO, assisting in the global implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage until his retirement in 2015.

Anthropologist, professor at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Ms Annie Tohmé-Tabet has developed significant experience in teaching and research.

Mr. Sidi TRAORE is a historian by training. In February 2002, he left history teaching to work in the Ministry of Culture of Burkina Faso. As a member of the Directorate of Cultural Heritage until 2013, he is actively involved in the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage through several activities: establishment of the Living Human Treasures system, proclamation of masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage, ratification of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, elaboration of the ICH inventory sheet and typology, implementation of the first ICH test inventories in Burkina Faso, review of the law on the protection of the cultural heritage with consideration of the ICH, conduct of studies and consultations on traditional know-how, elaboration of nominations on the lists and mechanisms of the Convention (Representative List and assistance request over $25,000). He participated in several expert meetings and technical workshops on ICH at the national, regional and international levels, represented Burkina Faso in the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage from 2010 to 2013, was a member of the Subsidiary Body in 2012 and since 2013 has joined UNESCO’s network of facilitators for the implementation of the 2003 Convention. Since February 2013, he has held the position of Director General of the National Week of Culture and is for the 2015 cycle a member of the Committee’s Evaluation Body.

Nikolai Vukov is Associate Professor at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with the Ethnographic Museum in Sofia. I was born in May 25th 1980, in Beira, Mozambique, and moved to Brazil, São Paulo, in 1990, where I lived for many years. In 2004, I graduated in Social Sciences at the University of São Paulo. In 2005, I came back to live in Mozambique working as a teacher in High School institutes and at the ARPAC-Instituto de Investigacao Sócio-Cultural. ARPAC is the Government’s organization (Ministry of Culture and Tourism) responsible for the Mozambican Intangible Cultural Heritage, where I worked in a research about Timbila (Masterpiece, 2005) and nowadays, in an Inventory of the country’s Traditional Dances.

Ayeta Anne Wangusa is the Executive Director of CDEA. She is a creative industries social entrepreneur and a thought leader who advocates for a cultural dimension in public policies and development programmes. She is also Regional Coordinator for Africa for The International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA). She is a member of the Arterial Network Cultural Policy Group and in 2014 represented Arterial Network and CDEA to provide input on culture through the Africa Working Group (AWG) response on the post 2015 development Agenda transformative issues. She is currently an member of UNESCO Expert Facility for the 2005 Convention. She served as East Africa’s representative on the Commonwealth Civil Society Advisory Committee (CSAC) and advised the Commonwealth Foundation from 2009 -2011.

Tojo Yharimanana Rakotomalala, a Malagasy national, is an expert in the following fields, including qualitative and quantitative research, local development, employment, skills development, culture and social communication. Since 2012, she has been member of the UNESCO Convention 2005 Expert Facility. Among work carried out at the national and international level, she has conducted an inventory of the current situation of the cultural structures and activities and cultural development in Madagascar, formulated national policies and regional employment strategies, formulated skills development strategy in the tourism/hotel/restaurant sector, and evaluated training systems.
