UNESCO IITE was one of the key partners of the ICDE Lillehammer Lifelong Summit organized by Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences and International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) in Lillehammer (Norway) on 11–13 February 2019.
The Summit has become an international meeting place where higher education met business for developing lifelong learning for the future. Researchers and professionals in lifelong learning and ICT in education exchanged and shared their research and knowledge with representatives from industries and employers organizations, and Ed Tech providers presented their technologies and methodologies supporting lifelong learning.
The Summit programme included keynote speeches, plenary sessions and parallel thematic sessions on the following topics:
- Sustainable Development Goals – inclusion, equality and empowerment
- Encouraging self-directed learning and empowerment
- Learning models in flexible and online learning: The interaction between content, technology, pedagogy and users
- Open Educational Resources (OER), course portals and MOOCs
- New pedagogies – participation, co-production and sharing
- Learning strategies for social and cultural inclusion
- Policies for new competence needs and employment adjustment
- Quality assurance in lifelong learning, flexible learning
- Funding and regulations supporting lifelong learning and employability
- Best practices world-wide
- Enabling meeting places between work and education
- Facilitating for career counselling, training and continuing education
- Towards a sustainable learning organization.
The keynotes were delivered by Mr. Bo Dahlbom, Рrofessor of Information Systems at University of Gothenburg; Ms. Asha Kanwar, President and CEO of Commonwealth of Learning (COL); Mr. Glenn Ruud, Global Learning and Development Director at Wilhelmsens Ships Services; Ms. Diana Laurillard, Professor of Learning with Digital Technologies at University College London; and Mr. David Atchoarena, Director of UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning.
On February 13, Ms. Svetlana Knyazeva, Chief of the Unit of Digital Pedagogy and Learning Materials of UNESCO IITE, delivered a presentation “Can Open Educational Resources Contribute to the Achievement of SDG4 in a Lifelong Learning Perspective?” reporting the outcomes of the joint project completed by UNESCO IITE together with OER Africa.
Based on the inputs from presentations and questions, the Organising Committee of the Summit drafted the Lillehammer Lifelong Learning Roadmap.
