UNESCO IITE at the International Conference ECCE 2018

VII International Conference “Early Childhood Care and Education” (ECCE 2018) – the largest in Russia event in the field of preschool education, took place in Moscow, Russia, on 16-20 May 2018.

The event was held under the general auspices of UNESCO, with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. The ECCE 2018 organizers were the Lomonosov Moscow State University (LMSU) and the International Pedagogical Academy of Preschool Education (IAPE). This year the conference was devoted to the future of preschool education in the era of digitalization. The conference was attended by delegates from 40 countries: experts, scientists, practitioners, policymakers, heads of executive bodies and representatives of major international organizations, such as UNESCO, the World Bank, the European Early Childhood Education Research Association (EECERA), the European Educational Research Association (EERA), etc. The total number of visitors to the open and business events was about 3,500 people. The participants discussed the urgent problems and prospects for early childhood care and education (ECCE), examined current trends in research and development of business cooperation in ECCE between government structures, the scientific community and practitioners.

IITE UNESCO, being an intellectual partner of the conference, took an active part in the conference and held a scientific section “ICT in preschool education”. The moderator of the section was Natalia Amelina, the Head of UNESCO IITE Teacher Professional Development and Networking Unit.
Section participants listened and discussed the reports of representatives of the following organizations: Middle East Technical University (Turkey), Innovations for Children LLC (Moscow, Russia), Institute for the Development of Education (Yaroslavl, Russia), Lomonosov Moscow State University, Sole Proprietor Muchkaev Savr Petrovich (Republic of Kalmykia, Russia), the Structural Subdivision Kindergarten No. 18 “Raduga” of the State Budgetary General Education Institution Secondary School No. 14 (Samara Region, Russia).
