A significant proportion of the 132 million children out-of-school worldwide, live in countries affected by war and natural disasters. Achieving Education for All requires that we ensure learning opportunities for these children and youth affected by emergencies. Education can save and sustain lives, offering physical, cognitive and psychosocial protection when delivered in safe, neutral spaces. Education restores routine and gives people hope for the future.
The IBE has compiled this list of resources on conflict and education to assist curriculum developers, researchers and practitioners. The first section focuses on conflict and its relation to the curricula. Other sections include various aspects of education and conflict as well as education in post conflict situations. Most of the publications and documents are freely accessible online. Articles in publications such as the UNESCOIBE journal, Prospects: Quarterly review of comparative education and other commercial publications are mostly accessible through services such as ProQuest and JSTOR.
