The workshop focuses on supporting two priority areas identified during the SDG4 AR-MED III meeting in Dead Sea (4-7 November 2018) and highlighted in the Joint Statement:
- Unpacking the alignment concepts through handbooks/guides/concept and orientation papers;
- Joint capacity development for curriculum, teacher and assessment specialists in countries based on appropriate orientation documents/papers/handbooks on alignment to be produced as soon as possible.

The three-day workshop aims at reinforcing interregional cooperation and coordination. It will bring together education specialists from the Arab Region, as well as from some selected African countries (i.e. Tanzania, Uganda, Senegal and Burkina Faso). Arab Regional Focal Points of the International Teacher Task Force for Education 2030 (TTF) will also contribute to the workshop ( see http://www.teachersforefa.unesco.org/v2/index.php/en/ernational).

The first part of the workshop will consist of two days of technical deliberations on the tools and strategies needed for clarifying the alignment concept, as well as for enhancing the capacities of national stakeholders in approaching the alignment of curricula, teacher policies and practices, and assessment in a comprehensive and coherent way. A meeting of the Regional TTF focal points (Teacher Task Force for Education 2030) will be conducted on the third day. Country teams (i.e. technical experts on curriculum, teachers and assessment) and TTF focal points will participate together in all sessions.
