UNESCO IICBA was represented at the 68th OMEO World Assembly and International Conference, held at the Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Republic of Korea from the 4 to 8 July, 2016. The theme was “Transforming Early Childhood System for future Generations”. Ms. Patience Awopegba participated based on the invitation to present to the OMEP World Assembly on the theme: “Creating awareness and access to quality, relevant and culturally friendly approaches to Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) provision in Africa through Cross Regional Collaboration”. The 2016 OMEP World Assembly and International Conference was organized as a learning event for registered attendees. It was also an opportunity for participants to observe the World Assembly meetings of 4-5 July, 2016 and take part in the World Conference and optional off-site educational visits on the 6th and 8th of July, 2016. OMEP called on local, national, and global leaders to:

1. Ensure humanitarian and just conditions for all displaced, migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking children

2. Create public policies and mechanisms through which the treatment of these young children will be transparent and realistically assessed.

3. Protect these young children by providing secure places for them to play and learn.

4. Educate teachers and caregivers to work successfully with these and other traumatized children as they gain access to educational programs and systems, as is their inalienable right guaranteed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
